I think most problems with cheating in internet tournaments can be successfully solved.

For example, in Russia we have several online tournaments that affect to our official rating in national Go federation. All rating changes are limited to 4k (1799), rating of 1800+ player can't be changed in those tournaments. This allows to 78% of our players fix their rank.

I would like to see some similar tournaments in Europe or maybe an ability to submit national online tournament results to EGF with similar restrictions.

6 dan is supposed to be one stone weaker than the weakest active pro. That is the level the (medium) 6 dans in Europe should hold. I guess it is similar at at that strength in AGA. KGS ranking system is broken and can not be taken into consideration. Japanese players can not even try to get pro in the easier way.

The answer of that question deserves a blog post of it's own. But I'll give a short answer.

When you receive gifts in China, you don't open it or use it to share with the guests while they are there. When the guest leaves then you can take a look at it and decide what to do with the present.

It is very common to use the gift to give to some other friend when you go there to visit. You then have to be sure the two friends don't know each others.

There are scary complications around this when it is common to give food or bakeries as gifts and these gifts might have been sent around for a while. I actually heard this story about a rotten cake... uuheeahh...

Then it is good with fruits because they have to be fresh.

Interesting. When I was younger my family acted in a very similar way - sadly that tradition is dying out with the older generation.

One question that popped in my mind was - what do they do with all the gifts? I guess it would be horribly impolite to throw gifts away or sell them.

I remember my paternal grandmother keeping a record of who gave what - simply in order to bring the gift of a previous visitor out of storage and strategically put it in plain sight somewhere not to obvious. This was only with distant relatives/friends though. I guess, for practical reasons, they usually brought cakes or coffee when paying a visit to a neighbor.

My grandmother collected /everything/ but she had a big house to put it all in - actually she had a few houses to put stuff in :)

@Mavlock: Your file is only a description of how the board looks after the last stone is played, not how each move was played to get to this position.

Look at your file and locate AW. That is the command "Add White" and after that you can see coordinates to where all the white stones are. Later you see AB for "Add Black" and the cordinates for all the black stones.

You can not see in what order they were placed. In my short example you can see in what order they were played and the coordinates.

So you exported the sgf in the wrong way. Maybe you used some kind of print function? See if you can use save or save as. That might work better.

Service now is mostly for smaller cusotmers who need minimal functionality and okay to live the static features and the said 3 releases per year to the product.
BMC Remedy gives you so much flexibility with respect to changing whatever you need.
Agreed that the version releases are so fast but thats how fast the processes are evloving.
